Dancers step out in panto

EVERY Sunday morning from now until December, Tameside will be ringing with young laughter and shouts of "Oh yes it will".

Nearly 200 youngsters are taking part in rehersals for the professional pantomime "Dick Whittington and his Cat" which will be playing at various venues across the borough from December 3rd until the 28th!

The Nicholson Academy Of Theatre Dance have been selected to represent the community of Droylsden in Tameside!

The youngsters are being put through their paces by professional choreographer Sue Fulton.

The panto is being brought to the borough by the council's art team in partnership with Pendle Productions.

Last Sunday, the junior fairies practised their dances and wand waves.

Then just after 10am, King Rat's minders took over the floor.

"This is what the future of theatre is all about" said artistic director Tim Lince.

"Young people performing alongside professional actors. It is always a delight to be able to encourage youngsters".

"This is often someone's first experience of theatre, so it is very important that we get it right. Those taking part will not only have the opportunity to rehearse slick, professionally choreographed dance routines, but may also be given small speaking parts".

"Dick Whittington" will be staged at The Concord Suite - Droylsden as well as numerous other venues in the borough.
